William Blair / MM Comp

Considering lateral opportunities from an EB to William Blair / similar MM firm; long story short I want to move from NYC back home so I can be closer to family (tier 2 city, limited banking presence). Fully acknowledge this will be a decent pay cut.

Any insight on what current comp is at William Blair or the like would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!

City literally doesnt matter no IBs adjust for COL… It also doesnt matter for WB specifically bc they cross staff. So no difference between WB SF vs Chicago they r all one tech group etc

William Blair and Harris Williams pay the most among the MM banks (base at HW is below street from aso 2 and up, but bonuses are well above). Both are all cash at aso level, HW starts giving some pnc stock at vp level but it’s not a ton. Baird is also all cash, not sure on comp as much - have heard some years where they pay out and other years where they did not.

Think HL, Piper, and Lincoln pay a tier below WB and and HW

Both pay ~EB regardless of location. Not only will you be making same as NYC but you’re paying 65% COL

Dogshit bank with dogshit equity research and sales employees. Wonder if this is a consistent theme throughout the company. Would avoid completely as they have done their job selling the brand.
