Willingly accepting A2A promote
I was curious what percentage of associate promotes truly wanted to stay in IB versus those that couldn't get a PE / exit offer.

Career Resources
Can't speak for all groups, but I'd say most people going A2A are looking for it - whether they came in hoping to stay, or fished around in PE and couldn't get an offer and decided to stay.
Most people trying to keep recruiting for an exit will just do a third analyst year. PE recruiting becomes very slim once you hit ASO, and there's also logistical challenges like a clawback if the firm gives an A2A promotion bonus
