Would you rather interview with a man or a woman?
Just curious on how everyone feels about being interviewed by either a man or a woman? I'm a younger male and feel like I tend to get along better with women in interviews.

Haven't found a trend really. I've had worse interviews with women in general, but I've also had some good interviews with women, so I wouldn't say it's gender specific necessarily. Maybe women tend to grill you harder.
id rather interview with a man. if it's a woman, i would rather if she was hot. i am attractive, and generally, less attractive females act more hostile towards me than the rest of the population. hot females on the other hand are really nice.
FYI I'm not a dude.
Humble brag10
is it tho
Is it a humble brag when the person says "I am attractive?"
Really? I find less attractive females are extra nice
are you a guy? if so, then that would explain it. it's just evolutionary biology, in my opinion. finance is a male dominated world, so females 'compete' for acceptance/ inclusion. therefore, they are more hostile towards other women and more accepting of men. with age (40+), i assume this becomes less of an issue as women go through life experiences and are now comfortable.
less attractive females (22-30ish)generally receive less attention in life, especially during late teens, therefore when interviewing with a young male, attractive, healthy, etc., they will be very nice because it brings back old insecurities. the young males they are interviewing will also kiss their ass because, well, it's the interviewer, leading to an ego boost for the less attractive female.
with young attractive female interviewees on the other hand, they may be more hostile. again, it is a male dominated environment so evolution entails removing as much competition as possible. attractive, young smart females are competition. also, society is nicer towards attractive females, so there may be more resentment.
interesting topic. it would be insightful to get other people's experiences as well.
@fackinshit" Smh. Don't talk about The Red Pill.
You must be tired from trying so hard big guy

Calm down with the monkey shit... Even Wall Street is no longer safe from the Ostridge Brigade..
Where can I find refuge?
Pics of it didn't happen.
btw im a grill ;)
Girl here. I actually thought I got along better with male interviewers, both close to my age (analysts) and director+ level. From what I've seen at superday events, a lot of female candidates from top schools come off as passive or apologetic, and you can tell they're smart and probably know what they're talking about but they come off as really boring people. I'm pretty high-energy and comfortable in interviews (and go to a semi-target where almost all my guy friends are in frats lol), so I could connect with interviewers pretty easily, but there was a little higher risk of personality clashes with female interviewers haha.
"where all my guy friends are in frats"
how is that even relevant lmao
relevant cause she only dates Chad from Apple Kappa Pie. not REIkachu from WSO
Older women are my favorite. Even if I'm got grilled, always felt like I did well with the fit. Younger women seemed to have more of a chip on their shoulder, especially if it was a two on one with another guy. Generalizations all around.
With men it's normally a mood thing in my experience, especially having been on the other side. I remember quite a few interviews where I could tell they weren't happy about being there before I even shook their hand.
I found fat guys to be pleasant to interview with, they are typically more jolly and i felt more at ease around them
that is so true.
Whats comp like at the North Pole?
This made me lol. I agree with this.
Comfortable with both, as long as they aren't dicks. Assholes have no specific gender.
Women. Granted, my interviews were for CF which isn't as much of a male dominated industry, but I felt like I was able to sort of charm my way through the interviews. The one guy I interviewed with was dead pan the whole time and I left that interview thinking I was out of the running for sure
Women. I like to tuck my boners up into my waistband too. It hides it and it feels awesome.
I always get a boner when interviewing with females, even mature ones. Guess I'm thankful that there aren't many females in my industry, or at my firm in higher positions.
Yeah, same. I'm sure to use Tic Tacs before interviews just in case I start kissing the interviewer. I'm automatically attracted to any female interviewer--I just start kissing them. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star interviewee, they let you do it. You can do anything.
what is it like being so disliked by the female population that it only takes a "hello" from a chick to get a boner? cringe
Women. Or at least what I’ve gone through. Haven’t had younger women but more vp and higher level, they’re nice. Though I will say if you interview well with a nice guy md or vp, they really push hard for you.
No preference on gender so long as the he or she is not a puckered up butthole, and has a good sense of humor. I like interviews where I can have an enjoyable conversation with the person across the table.
I do tend to do better with the 50+ and older crowd than the 20-30 crowd. I've always been an old soul.
who is keyser soze?
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
I'm a sucker for a woman in charge...
Women 100%. I am able to read, pander and be myself a lot easier with women than I am able to with men. The biggest difference between the two is I don't have to worry about coming off as "non-threatening" to the female interviewer. Too much confidence, too much intelligence or too accomplished can get me dinged quickly with a male interviewer.
If I've got to have a male interviewer, I hope that they are more tenured (40+). Here, I just break out the hard-working, good ole boy routine while being highly-respectful and I fare quite well.
Man, and that's just because I find it easier to communicate with men than women.
I don't break it down by gender. I've had just as much success with men as with women and also have had bad interviews with both. As longer as the interviewer is secure with themselves, personable, and able to act like a human being the interview goes well. If the interviewer is insecure and tries to cover up that insecurity by acting like a hardass/ice queen or being awkward and unable to hold a conversation, the interview rarely goes well.
Both successful women and successful men can be insecure and socially awkward, so gender isn't really the determining factor.
Young women tend to be nicer in interviews. Older males tend to be nicer in interviews. But then again this is just from my experience and we can't stereotype.
Would you rather interview with someone named Bob or Steve? Looking forward to your analyses.
steve. cause then i always picture steve carrell in The Office
That's 100% because you're a pussy and insecure around successful men. You don't take women as seriously, so you're not as intimidated. Get butt-hurt if you want, but it's true.
I left college a feminist... 8 years later I pray to god that my next interviewer be male. Experiences aside, just by virtue of our psychologies.
Guys are WAY more emotionally simple (no slight intended) and direct. Meanwhile women, by nature, are highly sensitive and therefore emotional - secretly cataloging and interpreting everything from looks, tone of voice, phrases, the pressure applied during a handshake (real case)... which leads the gal to produce an unpredictable emotional response, oftentimes assuming offense or personal interest when none was intended, so you never know what the hell's going on in a female interviewer's mind, nor will she give you much cues.
Men, in addition to being direct interviewers, are far more interested in discussing your achievements while I found women extremely reluctant to do so. And of course guys can be complementary, slipping in a mild complement if the opportunity presents itself, which is a much appreciated gesture in a high-pressured environment.
Now that I'm an interviewer myself, I know that my manner is easier with guys simply because I get a better personal read out of them while girls are more emotionally secretive, even if they come off as bombastic. Looks has nothing to do with it, for me at least. I know my gender well enough and want no unnecessary drama to hinder my team.
Perhaps that's why we naturally feel better with the opposite sex... because we know the shit our own genders are capable of too well lol
