would you tell people about FT offer when applying for SA?
I got an FT offer in an S&T position at an MM bank but the job doesn't start until the September so I'm going to have a whole summer off. I really need the money and I really want to get some banking experience so I want to try my luck by applying for some summer internships.
How should I tell people about my FT offer when applying for SA? Should I even tell them I have an FT offer?
You can tell them you have an offer and not specify it is a full-time offer. They'll likely just assume you have an offer to return for another summer and it makes you look more attractive as an applicant.
there's no way to hide that it's a FT because I'll be graduating this May. Thanks.
Enjoy the summer and get a job doing something fun (lifeguarding? golf caddying?). I honestly don't think you'll learn much by way of "banking" unless you want to sit around all day and do pitch books/run comps.
Listen to HerSerendipity and do something fun for your last summer. I caddied two summers ago at a high end golf club in NJ, made contacts and MORE money than I made from my internship last summer since it was all cash and I never had to work past sunset which was nice.

Yeah, you are not going to learn that much in one summer if i were you I would find something fun to do. There are plenty of fun jobs were you can still pull in some coin.
Would it be possible for you to do an internship at the firm that gave you the FT offer? Maybe in another division so that you'll have a better understanding of how their business operates.
Thanks for the solid advice guys, I will very much look into something fun like non profit. But just in case some SA opportunity opens up, how should I tell those people that I got an FT offer but just wanna work for them for the summer?
If you tell them that, or if they know that, you won't be hired. Guaranteed. They lose money on each summer candidate they hire, in hopes that their bets will pay off by returning a class of valuable full-time employees. Why would they pay you money to train you so that you can take those skills elsewhere?
