🚨WSO Blocking Free Speech, RH from JEF retaining Attorneys
Note from Patrick (CEO): All threads are live... We even posted about the story in the weekly wrap up newsletter. We don't see any threads removed although we've been having massive spam issues over the weekend so it's possible something happened. I'm investigating now. [EDIT: apologies, someone from my mod team removed...all republished now, see below

Please read: to those of you following developments of the tragic and preventable death of 28 year old Jefferies associate, Carter.
It is clear based off what has been shared with me by people within the Jefferies tech team in Dallas and friends that Carter was victim of a toxic and abusive workplace culture.
Many sources have confirmed that C-level management spoke with Carter about the abuse in his group and were aware of the actions of two MDs…this conversation of COO and Carter occurred the week prior to his preventable death. There is even more to this story once the screenshots of what Carter said to others about the culture, behavior, and actions of two MDs come out.
In addition to the comments from reports given to me, it’s rather suspect that Wall Street Oasis removed posts with over 150 replies on Carter’s death and Jefferies’ toxic work culture, it makes one wonder whether there is a coordinate plan by those who have the means to intimidate media and think they are above free speech.
NOW, I have heard from credible sources that Rich Handler has conflicted out at least 3 of the top attorneys in Texas who would take this case. Given the timing of it all, did he do this within a matter of days after the death? Was this all orchestrated before an official statement was made? Before Carter’s family had the opportunity to seek answers? Before some sort of justice could be served, or even sought?
So how does one do this? According to sources, people in theses positions with these means are able to call up “friends” and retain “top” lawyers (practicing and retired) with a handsome half a mil retainer fee. Why would one do that you ask? Well, because it creates a conflict of interest and their hands are tied if and when the family sought their legal representation.
So who are these “top” lawyers? Well, one certainly made himself known when he gave a whooping to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (@TXAG) last year. One has to then wonder the influence this has on the State. AG Paxton, are your hands tied now? The people want to know.
It is truly unimaginable and rather surreal to think something like this could have been orchestrated. Something so truly anti-American, attempting to remove due process by manipulating the power system and exerting strength because of how much money one has. This is directly contrary to Thomas Jefferson’s intent when he wrote the 14th amendment…that no state can deprive a person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.
And, wouldn’t this slant the court of law? What about the scales of justice? Do they now tip in favor of the dollar? Are we left to seek justice by a trial by media?
If @elonmusk is right, and we are the media now, I ask that all those who feel strongly about this and want the truth, for people to be held accountable, and for the consequences of actions to be received so change will be created that a preventable death will never occur again…I ask you to use your own voice and connections to call on the Texas Attorney General to look into this and if needed, the @TheJusticeDept, to look into corporate manslaughter charges against Jefferies and whatever other charges are deemed appropriate.
Public sentiment is growing, so keep fighting.
As Thomas Jefferson said “I consider trial by jury as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution.”
Thank you to my lawtina gf who edited this and thank you for your attention.

WSO is not censoring people, they’re removing comments from people speculating about a situation they know nothing about. They’re preventing rumors and other nonsense from being spread by people seeking to gain attention from this guy’s death.
It’s ridiculous that media reporters and influencers have arrived not even a week after he died looking for sound bites from his colleagues and family so they can turn his death into a story, gain clout, or advocate for a cause.
Oh, and to whoever wrote this. Thomas Jefferson died 40 years before the 14th amendment was passed.
The right way for WSO to do this is via community notes or a WSO disclaimer on the bottom and removing questionable posts. Not by just sweeping it under the rug
They’re removing comments of people seeking the names of this guy’s coworkers and calling for people to be arrested. Stupid shit like that.
Agreed
When has it ever been forum policy to fact check lmaooooooo
This is an online forum not the New York times
They have been censoring and bullying/harassing people for awhile actually this isn’t new.
The app doesn’t even work properly

While I think Rich Handler is probably the most likeable CEO of any of the major Wall St. investment banks (and is very much up there in terms of likeability amongst any major public figure in finance), the question here was always "when" and not "if". The only thing shocking is that BofA currently has a higher body count than JEF. My money is on JEF surpassing them and all on Wall St. long term though if no institutional changes or protocols are implemented. The firm's growth is a bit of an American Dream story, but the culture makes it a (nominally well-paid) American Nightmare to work there. Every group has their own nightmares, hopefully Rich is willing to ask for "honest" rather than "correct" responses from current and ex-employees (who may be afraid to speak up) in order to get solutions to those problems (hire junior bankers to match pace of MD hiring, minimum bonus, no clawbacks, etc.)
Dick is the absolute worst, he's likeable to the finmeme world, that's about it.

I’ll say what I say every time some glue eater posts claiming WSO is censoring them.
If you’re willing to pay for the fees involved in an arbitrary lawsuit some huge co might file just to shut the site up, then sure.
But nobody is. Meaning if a company filed a lawsuit, regardless of merit, the founder of the forum is stuck paying a 5 figure (MINIMUM) legal fee for nothing. It comes right out of his pocket.
With how often comments get removed these days on WSO, does anyone save screenshots and have an imgur album? It sucks how I'm always late to the party and miss everything
.
Damn, checked back too late again, looks like I missed some more info :(
I don't know where your gf goes to school or works but every legal reference in this post is retardedly wrong
We aren't blocking free speech. We even posted about the story in the weekly wrap up... looking why that link may have dead but I see it up now.
It’s been intermittently showing up all weekends
Patrick, you're becoming the embodiment of anti-free speech technocracy. Look at yourself as you defend banning discourse over a banking-related tragedy with non-sequiturs. Be ashamed.
what? read the mod note in the OP.
Care to explain why someone on your mod team would ever think removing that thread would be a good idea?
Why did you delete my "Hi Rich" post above?
They usually frown upon name dropping, especially when you have no idea whether he actually wrote it
@Patrick
Thanks for the transparency with the snip and understand there are many people needed to actually mod this 24/7.
For highly important threads that are in the news you may need to have the mod team more hands on and flag things to you so you can make the call
np - i thought that would be obvious not to remove the entire thread...
It happens
Boosting for visibility, my heart goes out to him. Think we need a fundraiser like the BOFA associate death, a very preventable and tragic death. Jefferies leadership has to be held accountable, this has been a problem at Jefferies for years and there have been continuous stories about toxic work culture + abuse from seniors from back in the early 2010s and maybe even before then.
Hello
Bump
Haha, wow, this is some real corporate drama with a side of conspiracy theory, right? 🚨 Looks like Wall Street Oasis is blocking more than just free speech; they’re blocking the truth! 😅 If only they could block this much drama, we'd all be better off.
And as for the lawyers getting "conflicted out" faster than a speeding ticket, seems like someone's trying to make sure justice stays just a bit out of reach. Hopefully, we’ll see more transparency and less of this shady business soon! Keep up the fight, people – truth always has a funny way of slipping through!
Bumping this message so more see it
Let’s not also forget what happened with John Saulitus and John Huwiler. Jefferies needs to be properly investigated ASAP
