<Lying About Graduation to Be Able To Recruit for Summer '23>
I'm a rising senior at a non-target who's late to IB recruiting and only have a PE/search fund and mezzanine internship under my belt. I would like to have the opportunity to interview with any BB/MM/Regional Boutique that is still recruiting for a SA role for next summer instead of full-time.
Is it okay if I extend my graduation and list on my cv that I'll graduate in December 2023, and once I get an internship offer, I change my graduation date? Can I tell HR I can't afford an extra semester/decided to no longer do a double major?
Looking forward to your responses!
Haven't done it personally so don't know the details but basically yeah. I've seen people do summer internships after they graduated and return there for full time a whole year after.
So they did it that way (white lie) or did they say they were already graduated?
They lied about graduation date to get the internship and once the internship was completed, just didn't do the extra school and returned. If asked you could just be like circumstances arose and I had to finish school a semester earlier than planned.
Know a guy in my group this summer who did it so it’s possible but might not even be worth it at this point especially since a lot of banks are already done recruiting for next summer. I’d say it’s worth a shot tho
What specifically did he do?
You can do it…I've done it before literally they don't care. I did this with Bank of America. Just make sure you say you are graduating after the internship, so if it is summer of 2023, put fall 2023 graduation.
They won’t ask why it’s taking 4.5 years to graduate either, it’s not their business believe it or not.
Don’t they request transcripts though?
