29, ex DJ, prop trader looking for a change...

Hi.. I have been browsing through the website reading the various posts but can't seem to find an answer that would directly apply to my situation.

So I have made a few mistakes in my life.. largest being that I effed up my undergrad and had a horrible GPA (2.3) in my BA degree in Psychology. Needless to say, at that age, all I wanted to do was pursue my career as a DJ. The only reason I attended uni was to follow the conventional path, however my heart was in a different place. After graduating, I was hired full time as a DJ and maintained quite a successful career doing so up till now (still DJ on weekends). 3 years ago, at the age of 27, I realized that finance was my calling and I had to explore that realm. I got accepted to a Cont Ed program at an "ivy league" Canadian uni and completed a Graduate Diploma in Management last year. During my experience, I fell in love with Finance and got exceptional marks in my courses (graduated with a 3.5). Soon after, I was hired by a prop trading firm and am currently working there. However, I want to make the switch to a BB, MM or even a boutique firm, mainly to have financial stability with a salary and the opportunity to be a part of bigger processes.

That being said, I feel like I my chances are really low of getting in. I have read posts about someone entering Asset Management at the age of 29 and IB at 33 after the military, but for some reason I feel like my chances are not as high of getting in. I have a few contacts at BBs and have applied through head hunting agencies. Theoretically, I would love to be on the IB side of the industry.. practically, I realize that S&T might be easier to get into. My goal is to gain experience at a firm and go for my MBA or MFin after 2-3 years and hopefully enter the PE side.

Question: What should my plan consist of? How can I be taken seriously? I know how to build financial models and am pretty knowledgeable about the markets, considering I was able to pull a year trading. My job experience is a trader ( I say trading analyst on my resume) but I want to be on the IB side. Should I have two separate resumes? I know I have messed up - but how do I twist my experiences to my benefit?

Any and all advice would be appreciated :)
