3.7+ GPA for an unpaid search fund gig ?????

Hey fellow monkeys,

I live in canada and presently a freshman at one of the main Canadian targets.

The majority of people I see on LinkedIn with search fund internships on their resume have generally 3.7 and up GPAs.

I messed up a little bit in my first semester and got a 3.0 cumulative.

How hard do you think it will be to get a partner at a local SF to hire me ? Do they consider your grades or just want people do stuff they don’t want to do?

(Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary)

If its unpaid and they're considering freshman than they will probably just want to see genuine enthusiasm and interest on your part. - How you do that is through your extracurriculars and club envolvement and even more important is showing an interest in getting to learn more about the partner and the work he does aka network. You'll most likely just be learning about the industry and doing some ad hoc research so don't put this on a pedastool, if you want it go for it.

I didn’t have a competitive GPA at the time I apply for a Search Fund internship but I was genuinely interested and wanted to learn as much as I could. I expressed this in my cover letter and during the interviews the MP mentioned that was just what he was looking for in perspective interns.
