3rd year IBD BB Analyst - no clue what I want to do

Hi monkeys,

Quick background: - top MSc degree (finance/accounting) in UK - 3rd analyst in European BB in London (sector coverage) - Considering buy-side opps - Getting contacted for loads of stuff (blue chip PE, SWF, Canadian Funds, MM PE, hedge funds, etc.) - Have gone through some processes but decided to put all of them on hold

So I basically I know I don't want to become a career banker and as a 3rd year analyst, it's time of me to look at what's out there and seriously consider a move in the next year or so top in order to not be "stuck". Like a lot of people, I decided I wanted to become a banking analyst for the exit opps. I was always interested in finance (not absolutely fascinated though) and reckoned it's a great way to start a career/get out of one's comfort zone, whilst keeping a lot of open doors further down the line.

Fast forward to today, I’m a 3rd year analyst who is getting contacted for all the top PE positions. I went to a few 1st rounds. I would literally study one hour the night before and the interviews would go well, but decided to put everything on hold shortly after that. MM PE would certainly be a better fit for me for obvious reasons but again I honestly can’t be bothered. I used to enjoy the transactional side of my job but after 5-6 processes, you kind of get the point and it’s just the same process but different business which you/your client are trying to milk. Mind you, I do not mind working like a dog but cannot stand doing it anymore for some random MD or client.

Now here’s the thing: I have no clue what I want to do. I’ve always been interested in finance and business but also have a huge interest in the general sports & fitness and nutrition/diet industries. I know it’s a broad sector but that’s honestly what could get me out of bed in the morning. I guess I could start my own thing but I believe I’ll be in a better spot in a few years’ time for that (in terms of capital, network and experience)

Is there anything obvious out there for someone like that? I feel like I am at a crossroad of my career. Looking back I’ve accomplished everything I wanted to (and exceeded in many areas) but I just can’t stand the corporate BS and life anymore.
