Advice needed - Rising Junior IB Recruitment
Hi everyone,
I'm a rising junior that has struggled with recruitment thus far. I've had 2 super days but no offers. I have a 3.96 GPA and 3 IB internships and have even networked quite well and aggressively, and I'm also an international student.
However, recruitment hasn't gone well at all. I'm quite lost on what to do at the moment tbh given how recruitment is nearing its end.
Curious to hear anyone thoughts on what steps I should take next or if there are specific banks that I should focus on at this point.

It's a semi-target university - rather wouldn't say the name as it could make it obvious who I am
If you're an international sometimes for whatever reason HR doesn't flag you as international until you get to the superday and so although they may like you its simply cause the banks doesn't sponsor. I've had this happen, got to the superday - was speaking with a VP and he said "wait you know we don't sponsor HR should have told you that" and obviously didn't get an offer. So I think its either that or you're not impressing the higher level people enough. Try to mold the interviews into conversations and ask good questions not the standard ones. But also make sure you apply to banks that sponsor otherwise its a waste of your time.
For banks that sponsor and are currently open - I'm assuming all BB's sponsor? Not really sure. But I do know HW does not, RJ does in certain cases, not sure about the other MMs
Thanks for that insight, wasn't aware! Tbh the super days went well, in one of them the head of the group made it seem like I was going to get the offer so I'm bummed bout that.
Most BB's seem to be nearly done with their processes or it's too late to network further there so I guess the banks that sponsor are really reducing. I'm really lost where to go from here at this point if I'm being honest.
Ya man I'm sorry that sucks. What I would do is this. 1. Make a list of all the banks currently still recruiting 2. Search WSO/Reddit to find if the remaining banks have sponsored in the past - you can also use the gov website - but make sure they aren't sponsoring like MDs or a VP - since they need to sponsor you and you'll be an analyst. 3. Maybe look at linkedin and see people who are working at these remaining banks and try to see if they are international. 4. Contact those people + Network for the banks that sponsor and remain. My assumption is that RJ/Stifel/Truist - those type of banks are recruiting or will start so see if those sponsor.
My best friend is an international student who was in a very similar situation (very high GPA and 2 IB internships). What I can tell you is that he had no problem getting several offers at both EB and BB (he is not diversity), but I have to admit that he was a beast from a technical standpoint.
I think that you should not think about being international as a problem but as something that can make you stand out. You have a different background from most candidates, use it.
Ofc if you are not better than a US candidate they are going to take him/her so my advice to finish recruiting is to make sure you are a beast at interviewing.
