Advice On Job Offer - Real Estate M&A
I was hoping to get a little bit of advice from the community here. For candid advice, I think it is important for me to give a little information about my background.
I am 26 years old, and graduated with an UG degree from a public non-rated non-target school where I also continued on to get my MBA. I recently passed L1 of the CFA exam. I have technical skills using SQL, Oracle, and the MS Suite of products.
I have a background that started with a short stint in accounting (5 months temporary position as a staff accountant), followed by a medium stint in marketing (18 months between two positions, a data analyst and a marketing analyst), followed by 18 months as a data analyst at a financial services firm, where I am currently sitting around 12 month mark in a market risk role of a Fortune 500 bank.
Recently I was contacted by a recruiter looking to fill a position for a small boutique IB. The firm has 5 employees and is focused in the RE industry. The position is for Analyst/Associate with base salary around 80-85K and bonus of 20-30K. The total package comes out to around 10-15K more than I get now.
The firm is extremely small and offers other advisory services, due to this, my exposure could be small/limited. Also due to the size of the firm I may not be able to transition to a larger M&A firm/AM/PE. I am wondering if it would be a better idea to continue to study for my CFA and network into a bit of a larger firm.
My future goals: To work in Asset Management or private equity.
My question, is this is an opportunity that I should pursue if I receive an offer?
