Am I doomed?!
To cut a story short, I got internship offer at MM bank, started recruiting to BB with incoming MM bank role on resume (planned to start after the internship) and MD spoke to me today.
Turns out that MD from MM bank used to work at BB I applied to and still holds a bunch of friends there. He reached out to me on my first day to talk face to face and asked about my application to BB, seemed upset and annoyed as I emphasized during interviews plans to stay FT.
Should I be worried about this convo?
This is always a risk but imo the MD is being a bit immature here. Interns are under no obligation to stay if they haven't signed a return offer, it's in your best interests to get yourself to the best possible first spot.
That said I would not expect a return offer here. Keep recruiting
If you’re going to do the BB internship after the MM, then just say that’s the plan to gain experience etc.
If you’re planning on reneging halfway into the MM then that’s a different story…
