Any advice on how to maximize my chances of breaking into IB in Canada?

Hey, I hope you guys can help me out and guide me in the right direction

My situation: a first-year accounting student at McGill (target for Canadian banks) with a 3.6 GPA (got downcurved in 3 classes in my first semester, but on track to get 3.77 CGPA at the end of this semester); work part-time so I do not have much time for student clubs (only won 2 case competitions); did Excel, PowerPoint & Financial Modeling courses by BIWS; have been networking with bankers (talked to 20 analysts, 4 associates & 1 VP)

I immigrated to Canada in 2018, so I don't really have interesting work experience to put on my resume, only a cashier & salesperson. Trying my best to get a business-related internship for this summer.

I understand that I am competing with 4.0 kids for the same internships, so I was wondering if there is anything else I could do to maximize my chances of at least getting a first-round interview?

Thank you!

P.S. I am recruiting only for Canadian banks; I did not get into the Honours in Investment Management Program at McGill, will apply next year again
