anyone here working on the finance side of a big oil & gas firm?

my family friend met up with me this weekend, and offered to get me in the room with some of his buddies at KBR, Kinder Morgan, & Cobalt. it caught me off guard, becuase i've never really considered working for one of those companies ( i was an IBD intern this summer) but i'm obviously going to take the interviews. so, monkeys, what kind of avenues are attractive to go on in the oil & gas firms? pay? difficulty of work? corporate culture? i know these questions are vague as can be, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.
