Applying at BBs

Any advice for applying at BBs if non-target school, no connection in company, school doesn't have contacts? I assume LinkedIn but I have had quite limited luck doing that. I read on another WSO post that GS hires many non-targets, but I have no idea how to go about applying. I know that applying through website is .001% chance of getting an interview and will get lost among thousands and thousands of applicants. GPA is good, finance/econ major, School is actually pretty good private university (Mary Hardin-Baylor in Central TX) but just no banks recruit. Any insight or tips? Appreciate all the advice I can get.
