It seems highly likely that if we don't hear back by now, we probably won't be getting an offer. It's a shame, since I really wanted the position too :(

From everything I've read on this site and other IB related sites, banks usually don't wait a long time to give you an offer if they really want you. Of course, I could be totally wrong, but my glimmer of hope is dimming, haha.

It is okay to follow up after one week. They say two weeks to be on a safe side just in case someone else doesn't take an offer. On average, they make their decisions same day or the following Monday or Tuesday at the latest. I asked someone within my netwrok ho was an analyst at BAML and he told me he found out the next business day, which fell on a Monday. Hope this helps. Good luck.

If you don't hear back from the HR contact, I assume one of two things: 1) You've been rejected and she doesn't even want to talk to you; 2) She's waiting to finalize everything before getting back to you, and you could still be in the running. I hope it's the latter.

I would follow up with an email on Monday if you do not here back by then. There is a possibility that they will send you either an email or mail correspondence regarding their decision to pursue another candidate. Recruiters do not usually call you to tell you that you didn't receive any offer. They usually only call candidates who receive full time offers.

Usually, yes. For candidates not receiving an offer, it's perceived as a waste of time to maintain contact with them. I actually heard this from someone working in HR at another BB.

The update they usually give you is in the form of mail correspondance saying they are considering someone else. I guess from their standpoint they look at it as a waste of time if they call all the people who are not getting offers.

I forgot to mention that sometimes they do not choose anyone they interview. It happened to someone I know, he interviewed among another 9 people and no one got an offer.

I am intrigued by the amount of traction gained in the thread. For BBs in general, if you do not hear back within a 24-48 time frame, then it means that you are hold. Has happened to me countless times and the best advice I have gotten is to continue to push forward. If you get the offer, celebrate like no tomorrow. If no offer is obtained, it will make the next opportunity that much sweeter.
