Best Path to IB or Capital Markets?
I struck out with all my interviews for IB and ended up taking a middle office/support role at a BB for my SA stint. I hope one day I can get into IB or Capital Markets, but am unsure with the best route to go about this. I’m not looking for the typical IB to PE path. I would like to get into IB or DCM/ECM and hopefully stay in this industry. Would interviewing for FT be the best path to break in? Should I accept a FT offer in the middle office role I’m interning in and attempt to network internally to move into FO? Or would the MBA route be the best option? It was really heartbreaking for me not being able to convert any of my Superdays into offers, especially with some where I felt I did everything right. But I guess all I can do is shake it off, move forward, and keep trying.
