Boutique Investment Banking Sophomore Internship

hey guys,

So I have been glued to this website trying to absorb as much as I possibly could with everything about Finance. I took it upon myself as a sophomore at a semi-target to begin networking and try to find an internship at a boutique investment bank for the summer. I used this sites list of IB in Manhattan and began Cold emailing. After about 20 or so emails requesting an unstructured paid/unpaid internship. A MD from an investment bank that focuses on recapitalization emailed me back asking to come to his office later this week, (I can't because I am getting over a flu.) I will probably head to his office next week, I have no hands on finance experience other than being apart of the wall street club at my school. My resume clearly states that, what kind of questions should I expect? Is it going to be more of why am i interested? Am I personable? Etc. Or should i expect some technical questions?

Thanks

It might be the typical "walk me through your resume", then a few technical questions to gauge your general finance knowledge. I would expect more market questions, not real technical questions. If you read the WSJ, FT, Economist, you should be fine.

Good job on taking the initiative and getting a reply. Also, hope you get well and good luck at the meeting/interview. If it doesn't trouble you, can you please answer a few questions?

Did you directly ask for an unpaid/unstructured internship in the first email and were you strictly emailing MD's/VP's? Thanks in advance and good luck.

Let us know how it turns out

My cold email is rather short but is to the point. I dont give any detail of my story in the email, and I directly ask for an internship.

Ive gotten a few replies, almost all being that they arent looking for interns. Should I say that I'll keep in touch for future lossibilities?
