Breaking into the markets

Hey guys, I've been a reader here for a little less than a year and WSO has been instrumental in helping learn about all the different areas within the field of finance and has helped me narrow down what I'm really interested in. I'm having a lot of trouble finding my first full time role and would like some advice as to how and can work more efficiently towards my long term career goals. For some general background, I went to a non-target state school and graduated this past may and did not really know whether or not I wanted to go into finance as a career until the back end of my senior year. The only internship I had during school was a real estate sales internship which obviously is not the best to break into this industry. I learned a ton about the markets in the equity research group my senior year at school and after reading over a dozen books, building research reports, following the markets, and networking as much as possible I realized trading is what I really want to do. I've met with a handful experienced traders that are either alumni or personal contacts that are trying to help me out but so far I've had no luck. At this point I'm willing to take any job possible that'll get me in an environment directly within the public markets. I'm without a doubt most drawn to macro driven products/strategies such as rates, FX, and a strong interest in options. I plan on teaching myself the basics of the major programming languages as soon as I can find the free time but currently being bogged down by studying for level one of my CFA in december along with my part time job and other personal obligations but will definitely get into that ASAP. If anyone could give me some good insight/guidance as to what roles I should be looking for to best position myself to become a trader (whether that be directly into a trading role or starting in risk/ops) it would be greatly appreciated.
