CAIA
I have a CFA charter, so I have an automatic waiver for CAIA level 1. I'm considering getting the CAIA, and am interested in working at a private equity or hedge fund shop. Does anyone in the private equity / hedge fund space have the CAIA? Is it totally unnecessary?

The CAIA (and honestly CFA as well) are not at all needed in PE or at a HF. I have never come across anyone in PE with the CAIA. Allocators and institutional LPs may find it valuable but it will not be for direct PE. Your direct experience is what will be directly considered when recruiting. If you'd like to still do it for the knowledge, knock yourself out, but it will add zero value to your resume in the eyes of a headhunter or PE firm.
