Can HR give money/host me in hotel if it is a needy case?

Folks, I have a perfect storm;

-Relocating to San Francisco for a job -Don't know any jack in the city -Coming out of grad school with nothing in the pocket, haha! -Well, the little something is going to be soaked by relocating costs -Spouse doing the same but to a different city

My question is do successful firms assist with this if it is a genuine need case? How can I ask HR tactfully? I'm doing my best to not be a burden or seem greedy(given that they're paying a decent relocation amount)

-Hello, HR! Can I get some money now? Or can they put me in hostel/hotel until paycheck arrives enough to cover security deposit?

My options are to rent a hostel/motel/sublet(without security deposit) until first paycheck and hopefully relocating bonus arrives

Uhm, that's my only option.

haha, I am the 1 % that doesn't have credit card. Fact! Basically no credit history. Spouse in similar situation but too much credit card borrowing is not the plan.
