Can I get an honest assessment of my GPA?
Yes this is overdone and yes I am a nervous undergrad seeking validation. But to be fair, the most recent (substantive) posts on this subject are already several years old so here goes:
I currently have a 3.48 at a HYP school. I'm a sophomore and I'm trying hard to push this above the 3.5 line this semester before I recruit in the Spring. I'm studying purely economics with a humanities second major so nothing crazy, but I struggled a lot in my first year for various reasons -i.e. zoom, not caring enough about grades, etc etc.
Can I get an honest assessment from someone who has been through it on what I'm looking at in terms of interview offers etc?
GPA is only one part. So instead of being a 10/10 here you are at like a 7/10. Push it up if you can, but just do your best on everything else.
Anyone would rather have a 3.5 GPA interesting and sharp candidate over a 3.9 weirdo any day.
Thanks for the answer. Will it be difficult to get first round interviews at that level in your opinion?
You’re at HYP. No one gives two fucks about your GPA. I don’t even notice the GPA when I look through resumes. People aren’t going to question your intelligence
Just put 3.5/4.0 and call it a day. I had a 3.5 (while recruiting) from a much worse school and ended up just fine. Just apply everywhere and network. A 3.5 will keep you in the running.
