Career advice regarding IB/PE

Looking for some career advice.

For context, I (4 YOE) sit on a private investment desk at a large wealth management institution where we show private deals (mostly coinvestments) to the firm's high net worth clients. While I sit on the investment team here and have pretty strong deal and investment experience, I am trying to make a career switch to something PE-adjacent (think FoF, coinvest, LP, etc) and am finding it difficult with my current background.

I've considered moving onto the IB side for two years to have that on my resume, but I'm now four years into my career and wouldn't want to start over in IB at Analyst 1. Would I be able to lateral to the Associate level? Or Analyst 2/3?

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.
