Career Transition Advice: Exit from PWM

Greetings all, I have been on WSO for the past years but this is actually my first time ever starting a discussion on the site. First, I'd like to thank all the fellow monkeys who share their personal experiences and give out exceptional advices here where I get to learn so much about the different paths in financial industry.

Here is a little background of myself:

      A) went to a non-target school

      B) currently a 2rd year analyst at a BB PWM (think GS/JPM/MS) in a Tier 2/3 city.

      C) passed CFA level 1 this past Febuary and completed the Elite modeling package from WSO.

I am approaching my 3rd year where I will have to make a decision whether to stay in my current industry or making a transition into some other field. As I progress in my current field I found out that I don't really see myself being a financial planner for the rest of my career. I enjoy working with people but I feel like I am missing the analytical piece in my current role where a lot of the job funcations are relationship management and personal financial planning. I found myself enjoy more on analyzing investments/equities and M&A so I decided to enroll into the CFA program and took courses from WSO to boost my resume/bridge the gap for a potential career transition.

I know a lot of people on this site would suggest to lateral into IB to keep my options open, but I gotta be honest that there are not a lot of shops in my city for IB and I don't really want to move to the east coast. Ultimately I would like to join a big tech Corp Dev OR being an equity analyst at a LO shop. I know those are two completely different directions but at my current stage I don't really know which option I will enjoy more.

Below is my current game plan I would appreciate any advices you guys can offer me:

      A) Seek for a Corp Dev job from a small/mideum size Tech firm to sharpen my excel skill and gain more deal exprience then work my way up for a big tech Corp Dev position. (Not sure if this is possible since big tech Corp Dev seems to recruit most of their guys from IB)

      B) Seek for an Investment analyst job at a smaller LO shop or at a Endowment/Pension then work my way up for a research associate program at a big LO shop. Get a MBA afterwards and comeback for a full-time analyst positon.

      C) Take GMAT and apply for B-school now

Below are my concerns for my game plan:

      A) I am afraid that if I swtiched to a smaller firm (whether for Corp Dev or LO) and somehow I got stuck in that space and not able to move up it will be a minus on profile when I apply for a top B-school down the line.

      B) I am not sure about how feasible my plans above are

      C) If I apply for B-school now with about 3 years of work experience I was told that it is less likely to get into a top one

What do you guys think? Any opinion or advice is valuable to me!
