cheap places to stay in SF and NYC while job searching

hey guys,

Does anyone know of cheap places to stay in SF and NYC while job searching (after COVID of course)?

I'm thinking of spending about 3 months in each after COVID while I search for work.

Outskirts of the city are also ok.

Cant comment on SF, but for the NYC area look at Airbnb's in Jersey City or around that area. Will be cheaper, youll have more room to breathe when the 2nd lockdowns inevitably come, and you'll be a quick train ride into the city (15 min max).

Although looks like you're older, so maybe a spot in Brooklyn or Queens would be fine (not as cheap as JC).

Go all the way

For SF, your best bet is either looking in the outskirts of the city near Daly City, or in the east bay near Oakland/Berkeley. These will require a longer commute though, since they're not actually in SF. If you're interested in actually being in SF, the Tenderloin is cheaper (although it's not the best neighborhood). Outer mission/excelsior is a bit cheaper as well (although not very central) as is Inner Richmond. Unsure about NYC.
