"I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature."

Insist on paying unless he clearly is willing to pay for himself/both of you. He's meeting as a favor to you, the least you can do is buy him some damn coffee.

"Yes. Money has been a little bit tight lately, but at the end of my life, when I'm sitting on my yacht, am I gonna be thinking about how much money I have? No. I'm gonna be thinking about how many friends I have and my children and my comedy albums."

When I was going through recruiting and meeting with analysts they always paid. I did always offer to pay but they always insisted on paying. The AMEX is one of the best parts of banking.

@FutureWaller - The drinking really depends on who you are with. After you meet once, you will be able to gauge if that person condones getting drunk (bets are...they do). My rule of thumb is to just drink at the same pace as them, especially the first time you meet. There is nothing bad they can say about you if you are drinking at their pace. Thats a good question though and is something that really varies by culture.
