Coffee Chat or 1st Round Interview?

So I'm a sophomore that goes to a Target school.

On a random Thursday night two weeks ago. A recruiter at this big megafund views my school profile and emails me something along the lines of "hey we got the US Head of ________ coming in for coffee chats tmrw morning and we want you to talk to him."

I think to myself oh cool! Coffee chat! and accept it. Therefore, I just brush up on the company info and the next day I walk in, go to the room, and the recruiter calls me in. I walk into this police - interrogation like room in my campus recruiting center that I didn't even know existed, and this guy is prepped with ammo - my resume all marked up, and a list of questions ready to be fired.

With this "pop-interview" I answer all behaviorals to the best of my ability, and then after 45 mins of souless grilling hes like "well it is great to meet you, hopefully I see you again sometime" and then I leave.

Sent a thank you email, and he was like "great to meet you thanks for stopping by"

So did I duck up?

Ngl if it’s “head of blank” at a mega fund you prolly should’ve prepared mentally for the worst. Unfortunate but there’s a lot of people who would’ve taken good advantage of an opportunity like that

What school? This happened to me too, ended up getting a call the next day with an offer. Decided to turn it down because I was able to leverage it for something better.
