Crashing Target Recruiting Events

Coming from a non-target, I’ve received the advice to try and find out when recruiting events are at target schools. After I find that out, go crash them. Have any of y’all done this before? Would it be frowned upon with the recruiters or would they like that I took the initiative? Do any of you guys have story’s about something like this?

Target recruiting events are held to meet students from that target university...not the Wall Street hardo from Non-Target State

Honestly I did this a couple of times for both an in-person info session and virtual info session. It so happened I followed up with one of the analysts after the info session and they were part of the recruiting team at a top EB. We connected on the phone for an hour and at the end said I was guaranteed an interview. My point is that it's not risky as long as you don't put yourself out there too much. Go to the info session, write down all of their names and then reach out to them following the event (even if you have to blanantly tell them you do not go their school. They will appreciate the dedication). Although I would say to be wary about in-person sessions because you might need a student ID to swipe in. However, no risk at all by "crashing" a virtual info session

I think this is an awful idea. I go to a target and our recruiting events are always employees who graduated from my school coming to talk about the firm and hire more kids from our school. Crashing a generic recruiting event is one thing, but 99% of the time school specific presentations are given by alumni, so they will not be receptive to a kid from a different school showing up.
