Currently serving, IB recruiting advice needed.

Hi all,

I'm a bit lost now about the recruiting timeline. Would really appreciate your help on this.

My situation: Completed three semesters at school (while transferring to my current school), currently serving in the army and will return to school September 2022. Have several, yet mixed internships including ER, IB, MC. Decided to pursue IB and will recruit for an IB SA gig. Thing is, am I screwed for the timing?

I'm confused with the interview process. My understanding is that in your sophomore spring, the interview season kicks off, you pass the superday, your SA job starts a year after, which is your junior summer. Now, I've already finished three semesters, meaning once I return to school September 2022 and finish another, I'm technically a junior, in which case banks will not even consider my application? So by the time when the interview season kicks off, I'm automatically dinged for SA gigs, no chance for traditional recruiting. Am I understanding this correctly? Please correct me if I'm wrong, and if indeed I'm screwed, is there any way to leverage off-cycle internships for a full time in IB? Plus, I'm an international so I need a visa sponsorship.

Sorry for a long post, but please help.

Are you serving in the US Army?

It only matters when you graduate not what year you're in. So it sounds like you graduate in December 2023?

That means you're in a good spot, you would technically recruit with the current freshman for SA 2023 positions. I would try and secure a solid boutique/MM offer this summer and gear up to recruit next spring. You still have plenty of time to secure something for this summer.

If I'm wrong and you don't graduate December 2023 and you graduate Spring 2023 then you're a little late as recruiting has already started, however, there are a few firms that still recruit in the fall and you have a good chance with your service record and prior internships. Network your ass off and I think you'll be fine. Happy to help.
