Did I make the right choice?

I am an incoming analyst on an IR team at one of the MF. Went to a low tier target and took this offer over mid tier BB offer.
I am having faint feelings of regret about IR, in terms of career trajectory, comp, optionality. My dream has always been working on the investing side, either private or public markets. I fear I will never have the opportunity to do that by starting in IR.
I understand the benefits of IR is WLB, still good comp. But did I make the right choice? How attractive is comp trajectory for example? Does comp even come close to IB?
Just in need of some advice or words of encouragement.
