Do Coffee Chats really increase the odds of you getting the job?

I had a coffee chat with a senior sell-side ER analyst last week and it was a great conversation. He enjoyed my stock pitch and we spoke way over the allotted time (scheduled for 30 mins - ended up lasting 1hr).

He alluded to the fact that if this was a formal interview I would've made it to the second round. Afterwards he asked for my resume and for me to send him my three-statements models, DCFs and CV.

He told me to keep in touch and I'm already in the top 10% of candidates because a lot don't make it this far (I didn't even go through the process yet, so I'm not sure what he meant.)

I'm curious - I know guys in finance play A LOT of mind games so I don't know what's real and what's fake.

What do you guys think??

Coffee chats lead to interviews interviews lead to offers. The interviewer would much like to give a formal interview to someone they've met and spoken to versus a no name resume drop

0% mind games here. You're way over thinking this.

Just had my trade dispute rejected by Schwab for a loss of 35k. This single issue alone should be a gigantic red flag to anyone who trades on their platform. If they have a system error, and you do not video record your trading (they actually said this), they will not honour their fuck up. Switching everything away from them. Fuck this company.
