Do firms give out IQ Exams for Internships now?

I’ve read somewhere that some firms give IQ exams. I haven’t heard of this - is that common? Do firms give out IQ Exams for Internships now and how difficult are they?

What IQ would people need in order to be qualified?

Not really. I took those IQ tests online and I scored 146 which was 98% percentile. But I still struggle with math and algorithm problems and I’ve met so many people that are miles smarter than me. Those tests are very silly, once you know the trick it’s very easy to solve them.

they're not called "IQ tests" they're called psychometric tests are intended to be an indicator of your analytical intelligence (numerical, verbal and logical reasoning). They're a staple in the UK intern and graduate applications across the corporate world.

In reality they're something of a tool for HR to whittle down the thousands of applications they're flooded with to a reasonable number that they can then begin to review on a CV basis. The logic being, if you're smart enough to ace a psych test, you're smart enough to do the job. Standardised tests like that are one of the very few "fair" steps in the application process

They aren't anything to be afraid off, just practice them, consistently using online resources, and improve on your mistakes. The only annoying thing is when you've applied to 30+ places and you've got to complete 10+ tests within the following 2-5 days or something
