do HR professionals check your Linkedin profile to determine if you get an interview?

Let's say you submit your resume through an online app. Do they also view your Linkedin profile to determine if you get an interview?

If it appears that I haven't updated it much, can that hurt my candidacy?

It's becoming more and more common for HR to do a social media scan. Your linkedin profile should closely mirror your resume, but it's not a huge deal if you haven't updated something. I know a guy whose offer was rescinded because his linkedin showed several inconsistencies from what he had said during his interviews. Be careful with social media.

Thanks. How about if my rolodex appears short? I know some firms care about what kind of relationships you can bring over

As an analyst, I doubt it. Unless of course in the interview you said you could bring in some fortune 500 business.
