Do I need a sophomore summer internship?

Recently received an offer from a top EB with pretty high return rates. I signed my offer for junior summer before I secured something for this coming summer, do I still need an internship? I kind of want to take a chill summer but at the same time I am not exactly sure how such a big gap on my resume would look. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hate to hijack thread, but similar for me: In similar position, signed EB and have BB Sophomore coming up in a few weeks - Should I just be upfront and be transparent with them that I signed for next summer and don't want to be a waste of financial + time resources from the team? Would much rather enjoy my last summer tbh

Just do the internship. You will get experience working in a corporate environment and work on deals.

True, but this is a lower tier BB (Think UBS, DB, etc.) and I'll be at a Moelis / Lazard / PWP next summer. BB putting me in DCM, and I want to do M&A, so really not something I'm looking super towards if you get what I mean

Bruh, it's just a summer internship. You will still be working in IB. You never know, you might like DCM or at the very least expand your network.

That would be a horrible idea.

Telling them that I'd be a waste of financial resources or telling them at all?
