Do REPE firms typically reach out to previous employers before hiring an analyst?
I just finished my final interview for an analyst position at a REPE firm. One of the people I met with today told me that he reached out to a team I interned with this past summer to ask about me (he said the feedback was very positive). I was a bit taken aback by this because I never gave references or signed a consent form. Is it typical for employers to reach out to past employers in the recruiting process? What sorts of things do they ask?
