so here's the deal: i don't like coffee...
i don't want to look like an absolute **** if someone agrees to meet up for coffee and i end up not getting coffee after i asked him to get coffee
so what about a smoothie chat? anybody ever try this? people like smoothies way more than coffee anyway these days, i'm certain that smoothie chats will become the standard at some point in the future. but maybe i am just too far ahead of the wave...

Just meet at a coffee shop and order something other than coffee. Make it basic since they'll likely offer to pay for it. Don't order a $7 macchiato. Just get a hot tea or something. There are plenty of options that aren't jamba juice.

This is a well thought out plan, and I commend you for it. Everyone knows that smoothie outings are fare more intimate, and therefore stronger bonds are constructed. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I actually got numerous FT offers through smoothie chats. Plus if you meet up with a hotty giving you vibes, the transition to a second date is seamless.
I take a lot of clients to Joe & the Juice as I usually want a break from the non-stop coffees at the desk. Younger clients "get it" and older clients think its kinda cool w/ the overall vibe and subtle house music in the background..
