Early Career Advice
I graduated last may with a finance degree from a non-target and have struggled to find a full-time role. My end goal is landing a job in research, either that be equity or fixed income. It's gotten to the point where I need to get a job in financial services just to get my foot in the door. I only have a little over 1 year of experience as an equity analyst and almost every research role wants over 2 with cfa/mba.
My dilemma is that I have an offer from an investment management firm in an investor services role where I would be on the phones with shareholders regarding mutual fund questions for shit pay. The career progression in this role isn't towards research, so I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and take the role, work there for a year for resume experience, then find another role that would support getting either my mba or cfa and set me up to be qualified for research roles.
Thanks.
