Entry Level Economists in Banks

Hey guys,

I am going into my junior year this coming fall double majoring in Economics and Math. I've been trying to search for entry level economist roles in banks (esp. BB) but to no avail. How does one get an internship doing economic research in a bank? I am currently doing experimental economics research with a professor in my college and I have more than a year of research experience under my belt.

I am currently studying in Texas but I am open to opportunities anywhere in states. Please help!

Are you dead set on working in a bank? I would recommend looking into the summer analyst internships at the fed as well. You can read a little about the program by going to newyorkfed.org and following the links to the careers page, and click on the undergrad opportunities. I don't personally have any experience with this process, but I can imagine that interning at the Fed could provide some great full time opportunities beyond school.

Thanks for the recommendation. The Fed would be ideal. I am not necessarily dead-set on working only in banks but I would like to cast a wider net beyond the fed. The advice I gotten so far is that most undergrad students start out in the fed and then move on to grad school and join a bank or think tanks later on.

I would love to gain more insights into the recruitment process for these positions in banks but my alumni network is pretty limited in this area.
