Fall Investment Banking internship?

Are there any? And how do I go about them? If I'm graduating spring 2017, will I still be able to do an internship at a Small Boutique or MM in the summer of 2017?

I was in a similar position as yourself going into my senior year and I will be starting as an analyst full time at a MM bank in a few weeks.

What I did is August before my senior year I began reaching out to every boutique firm within commuting distance (1-2hrs) from my campus offering to intern for free. I had some offers on the table at the time for non-banking roles in finance at the time and decided that wasn't the path I wanted to take.

Offering to work for free shows hunger and banks like to see that level of aggressiveness... not going to lie it also comes down to good timing. I came on board at a bank working 2-3 days a week fall of my senior year. Eventually they will start paying you and the experience you get will be worth it, nonetheless. Work hard, ask a lot of questions and they will notice.

Do you have other internship experience? You need to have a good story why you want to get into banking now and not before (most bankers know pretty early that they plan on going IBD- at least for junior SA)

Feel free to PM me.

A lot of boutique and MM firms have transactions that their senior guys worked on in their deal section. Did you scrounge around the page for an asterisk, saying something like, "Reflects transactions completed by X professionals, including transactions completed prior to joining X?"

I think this makes sense to do if the current firm is new, and doesn't have many closed deals to list itself yet. However, after awhile it just looks ridiculous, as a big deal like that (RJR/KKR) had everything to do with where that guy worked, not the guy himself.
