First week of internship- no work

Hi everyone I am currently interning at a bb.Everyone else in the team seems INSANELY busy except me. I have been assigned to separate projects but non of these is urgent/ making progress, so my analyst doesn’t really have anything for me to do. I asked manager to give me more work, and the new project she assigned to me still barely have anything for me. What should I do now? Should I ask for more work ( but now I am in 3 different deal team)? My manager also asks me to tell how many hours I worked on each deal by the end of the week, which I honestly don’t know how to put down. Do you guys have any ideas on what should I do? Thank you!

Take a deep breath. This is really common for interns. Yeah it's logical to think you should get work when everyone is busy, but it takes at least 3x the amount of my time to have an intern do something - I have to teach them and then carefully check the work and give feedback. I really like helping people learn but if I am underwater I'm just going to do the task quickly instead. So - it's not you, it happens to a lot of interns

Don't keep asking your deal teams for more work, it's annoying for them. Spend some time digging through the deal folders - look at old PPTs, save down a model on your desktop and try to change the companies from X buyiny Y to A buying C (harder than it sounds). If you have an especially friendly analyst, can ask them if you can sit behind them when they are modeling to see what they do. Be honest with your manager that the deals have been quiet, but don't bug her all the time.
