Following Up With Contact...Help/Advice
Hey WSO, just a quick thank you...the advice on here helped me land my internship in a PE shop for this summer (sophomore).
A month and a half ago I had lunch with a high up executive for a BB bank whom I had met through reaching out to some family contacts that eventually led me to him. He was happy to meet, offered me an interview/recommendation after talking for next summer. I followed up with a thank you at the time, but have not reached out since to stay in touch. (He told me to contact him when the position gets posted in the fall)
I would like to follow up with him just to ask how things are, mention something about his company from the news, etc. to stay in touch and show him I am still interested but don't want to bother him considering he told me to get in touch in the fall.
Any thoughts/past experiences would be a huge help, thanks in advance.
Basically, just reiterate your interest in working at his bank/ try to show him how eager you are. Perhaps send an article which he find interesting. Essentially your goal should be to maintain a lasting relationship. I wouldn't really worry about bothering him, so as long as you aren't emailing him more than once every few weeks/months or so.
