Freshman summer
Hey guys I'm a freshman currently networking for freshman summer internships. So what's the best kind of internship freshmen typically get? BB wealth management? Small asset management?

Anything you can get, you will find very few places willing to hire freshmen. Local boutique IB/PE would stand out, some sort of finance role at a non-bank company is more common.
got it! and do you know what kind of firm to avoid? I just got this offer from a private equity start-up with 3 people, that wouldn't good so great on the resume right?
That's fine, hopefully they have at least 1-2 deals closed so you can be assured it's legitimate. 20+ people is ideal but these are very competitive.
Avoid northwestern mutual or anywhere selling insurance products. Other than that, freshman summer is just good to show you can function in a work environment. Sophomore summer and networking are more important
Thanks for the advice man, appreciate it!

As long as it's either vaguely relevant or interesting that's all that matters for freshman summer. I did basic data science at a local company in my hometown my freshman summer and have a EB offer for junior summer. It rarely came up in interviews unless I used it for stories.
