Freshman Summer Internships?

Hey all, I am going to be a freshman at a semi-target school next year that would love to get into IB eventually, but I have a few questions for those much more experienced than me.

1. I would like to work in PWM as an intern after my freshman year, when would you recommend to start cold emailing institutions in my colleges area, keeping in mind I haven't started college yet?

2. Is it realistic for me to land a paid internship, or would I be working for free? (I unfortunately do have to worry about money)

3. And finally, what is the best advice you have for a freshman that you wished you knew when you began college?

Thanks in advance for any help/ advice you can offer, I really appreciate it!
