Ghosted by Goldman?

Had 6 rounds of interviews over a 2 month period for a lateral hire in GIR, last one was about a month ago. Team had mentioned wanting to be assembled by the end of May. Application status has moved to interview complete at this point. Just wondering if the silence for a month is normal at GS or if I should read the writings on the wall.

update 2 days later: they updated application to turn down. should've read writings on the wall.

Based on the WSO threads, it's not uncommon to experience delays or a lack of communication from Goldman Sachs after interviews. Here are a few insights and steps you might consider:

  1. Patience is Key: Goldman Sachs' recruitment process can be lengthy, especially for positions like GIR (Global Investment Research). Delays between rounds or before the final decision are not unusual.

  2. Application Status: If your status has changed to "interview complete," it generally means that all required interviews have been conducted and your application is under review. This doesn't necessarily indicate a negative outcome.

  3. Follow-Up: It's appropriate to follow up if you haven't heard back in a while. A polite email to the HR contact or the person who last interviewed you, expressing continued interest and inquiring about any updates, can be beneficial.

  4. Prepare for All Outcomes: While waiting, it's wise to continue exploring other opportunities. This way, you're not solely dependent on one outcome.

  5. Networking: Continue to engage with your network within Goldman Sachs or the industry. Sometimes, internal referrals or insights can provide more direct information about your application status.

Remember, the recruitment process can be unpredictable, and sometimes, no news is just no news yet. Keep a balanced approach to maintain your peace of mind during this waiting period.
