Your company likely has a policy on this. Generally inter-office relationships are frowned upon, and at my old firm we had to disclose them to HR.

As an aside (and from personal experience), working with someone you're screwing is not a good idea in the long term (or really past the point of the end of said screwing).

"They are all former investment bankers that were laid off in the economic collapse that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have no marketable skills, but by God they work hard."

Yes inter-office relationships are huge problem, especially if the relationship ends, then all hell breaks loose. I think you should be honest and bring it up. Delaying something like that will just make it worse.

Give me a break. Yes, a relationship with a co-worker is a problem and not even allowed at some places. However, it will only be a problem if people find out.

First of all, who is this chick you're dating? If I were her, I would have been pissed if the dude I was banging wasn't giving me every single ounce of help he could think of.

Second, do you know how hard it is to get a job? You said it yourself, your gf wanted to get into finance and had no luck with any firm except yours. Think about how not having this summer internship may affect her future prospects of landing a full-time offer later on.

Third, and most importantly, "Never rat on your friends and always keep your mouth shut."

You're welcome.

Think about these repercussions if you tell them:

1) They get pissed that you didn't tell them earlier, rescind your offer 2) They thank you for telling them, say your gf is better, rescind your offer 3) They like you both, can't choose between you two, rescind both your offers

tl;dr: Don't tell them. You're interns, just hide it.

VikingGuy- No worries man. It's cool we're not on the same page.

I truly hope everything works out for you and your gf, but like BTbanker said, "you guys are interns." (or at least she is). She'll be gone in two months and as long as no one knows, then who cares.

It's no one's business, but your own. Don't walk around the office calling her honey or asking her what you guys are doing for dinner later.

As far as everyone else is concerned you guys are old friends from way back and nothing more.

Exposing something as harmless as an inter-office relationship and potentially having both your offers rescinded (from a "dream job") would be one of the biggest and most regrettable mistakes each of you will ever make in your career.

But hey, if you and your gf are okay with making a big deal out of a small thing that can be easily hidden for 2 months, then do whatever floats your boat.

You're a better man, than me.

Best of luck.

P.S. If you guys actually bring it up and sh*t hits the fan...are you going to look back when you're unemployed and say "hey, maybe we could have just ommitted it and stayed low key for 2 months."

Do not follow any advice your campus career office gives you. Those people are generally idiots.

People are overstating how big of a deal this is. Keep it a secret when you are in the office. No one really cares that much, UNLESS it causes problems at the office. Keep everything relationship driven out of the office, deal with it at home or wherever, and you will be fine. No one really cares if two interns are hooking up, in fact that is somewhat expected.

Here is what it comes down to, since its only a two month gig, I would just avoid the matter. The internship will be over before you know it. Obviously if this was FT it would be a different story. I honestly don't think they will rescind your offer for something like this, if they did then that would just be really poor judgement of their part. Just leave it be, its not a big deal given the duration of this.
