GloCap: another crappy recruiter ?
I was wondering if anyone has gotten a job using Glocap, which (although it's been around for some time) seems like another waste of time.
I found an older post http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/is-glocap-full-of-shit which doesn't give them much credit.
Glocap was formed by a Harvard Grad, Adam Zoia, and you can bet your bippy they favor Harvard grads. -after all, that's the HBS way.
Thanks.

i know of people who have gotten jobs through them. they have relationships with certain firms that use them exclusively
It's legit. The jobs are very high profile, so you have to be exceptional to get interviews through them.
Ive gotten a couple of interviews through them so theyre definitely legit. What mainly got me to reply in this thread though is 1. how awesome your avatar is and 2. how huge your sig is.
Glocap spams my inbox. 80%+ of the jobs they send are really attractive.
It's definitely legit. I've gotten both interviews and offers through it.
I've had a great experience with Glocap.
Definitely legit, but as others have said, you have to be a top profile candidate and they send you a billion emails.
Is Glocap full of shit? (Originally Posted: 02/26/2009)
I keep getting all these emails for a ton of buy-side jobs daily. But from my conversations with all of my friends who are very well pedigreed and top recruiters, there just arent that many jobs out there. But if you go by glocap's list/email, it seems like its still 2006.
Any insight?
I only know one person who has ever got a job through glocap
There are definitely still many MM buy-side firms hiring. Most of them are looking for immediate or summer 2009 starts at the moment - but the usual on-cycle round is coming soon. Count me as one more person who got placed by Glocap (in 2007).
Im sure they place well, just more selective than most.
IMO, Glocap is terrible.
I found boutique shops to be much more personal, interactive, and actually got me in front of employers (and offers!)
Raider4Ever -I concur.
Dont think most people get success through Glocap - its annoying that you cannot even talk to recruiters over there, and makes it a complete waste of time to apply through it.
There was a FOF posting there, and I applied to it - got declined, similarly applied to the SAME FOF posting through a different recruiting service and I am in 2nd round at FOF..
So I really question on how they value professional's experience..

Has anyone successfully been placed by Glocap? I know they run a more McDonald's drive thru style process, but if someone has been placed by them, or at least got an offer, could you contact me? I just have a few questions, and would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
