Grave Typo in Cover Letter
Hi know this should’ve been an issue I should’ve been aware of before submitting my appl, but applied for an online PE job with a cover letter. Realized I made a grave typo in the middle being quite tired the night of submission.
Ended up relogging in today and deleting the cover letter and uploading the fixed one. Will the recruitment team see the original or newly uploaded one? Very paranoid about this. The application closes June 7 so still ahead of time. Thanks again.
I don’t know of one person that reads cover letters.
Yeah but never hurts to attach and had great and personable conversations with people at the firm and hoped to highlight it. nonetheless just wondering..
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights:
Immediate Action Taken: It's good that you quickly corrected the typo by re-uploading the fixed cover letter. This proactive step shows your attention to detail and commitment to presenting your best self.
Recruitment Systems: Many online application systems will replace the old document with the newly uploaded one, especially if the application period is still open. However, this can vary depending on the specific system used by the company.
Follow-Up: To ensure that the recruitment team sees the corrected version, consider sending a polite email to the HR or recruitment contact. Explain that you noticed a typo and have uploaded a corrected version. This demonstrates your professionalism and thoroughness.
Application Deadline: Since the application closes on June 7, you still have time. Use this opportunity to double-check all other aspects of your application to ensure everything is in order.
Learning Experience: Take this as a learning experience to always review your documents thoroughly before submission, especially when tired.

You're overthinking it. I've made a similar mistake in the past and have still gotten interviews at the company. As long as you get it in before the deadline, no one is going to fault you.
I remember one time, an alum had to ask me where my application was for his company (he was trying to get me an interview). I applied on the school portal but not the company website (I remember the company didn't have a hard deadline but it was awkward for me to make this mistake and HR having to ask where I submitted my application because they didn't have access to it). Proceeded to make it through to 3 rounds out of 5 before being rejected once I submitted it through proper channels.
