Has transferring to a target for your junior year become pointless?

I saw this being discussed in another thread, but wanted to start my own. With recruiting moving up to the spring, is it even worth it to transfer your junior year if you want to get a summer internship in IB?

By the time you receive your acceptance, recruiting would be in full swing/finalizing and I don't see how someone would be able to utilize their transfer school's assets in time. Of course there are many other reasons to transfer, but networking with alumni, OCR, and schools reputation to obtain a SA has always been a huge reason for IB hopefuls.

Personally I still plan to transfer as I like keeping my options open and want to be able to dorm without putting myself in too much debt. I'm a current sophomore that didn't have any freshman summer internship, and it's crazy to think that I'm going to need to secure back to back summer internships before even starting my first one,

Also in your guys shoes, first year at CC though. Down south as well. I will probably start applying for summer internships at the end of the school year, and will probably just take anything I can get.

You aren't gonna get an interview with a BB from community college no matter how good your GPA is lol

Probably not on St. haha. But, I just completed my first year at CC and now in my first semester at a university (no alumni in IB found)- I've had one accounting internship and I should be starting my next internship in a month at MS. You really have to make calls and emails to get any chances.

I'm sure they probably would, especially from a CC 18-19 y.o. haha. I'm not a traditional college (or CC) student though. I don't do anything special in contacting people; I connect with analyst or advisors at firms, spit my elevator pitch and send my resume, and then see if there are any opportunities for an internship- they often either pass resume to someone who can help or put me in direct contact to the right person. I would say the connections I have made, through networking and through veteran programs, have been imperative to me receiving the opportunities I have.

Look into wealth management, it is pretty easy to get. Ideally see if maybe you can network hard and find an unpaid boutique internship somewhere, don't put yourself out of contention because you attend a cc. Don't be afraid to get rejected 999 times, all it takes one person. Myself coming from a CC was almost able to secure an IB interview at a BB, VP tried seeing if they had any room left to try to get me something, but they had done all their recruiting early. Im sure there are guys (small few) that were able to get BB IB internships coming for a CC.

That's good your getting involved on campus with financial clubs; from what I've heard alumni in banking are often great at pulling strings for other members. My school has nothing like that, as they are a devout Christian school and I think they honestly would look down on that path haha. I think if people like us be persistent and take the initiative we'll be okay whenever we transfer to better "target" schools.
