How do banks fly you out for superday?
When a bank offers to fly you out for a superday, do they give you a few hundred cash or do they buy your round-trip ticket and put you up in a hotel? I just killed my first round interview and am expecting an offer for a superday early next week and wanted to know how it works given that it's easter weekend and I'll be home and not at school.
They’ll usually just connect you to their travel team who will book for you
What if I'm in school at the moment — am I really expected to just drop classes and fly to a final round interview? Is that how this works?
Is this a serious comment? Yes you make arrangements so you can be gone a full day to interview for a job. Everybody understands this.
In response to OP - it used to be the case you would be flown out to the office city. Some banks would do a reception (info session/speaker and some form of cocktail hour) the night before where you network with people across all levels at the bank. Usually would be told who your interviewers were and would go up to them to introduce yourself and chat.
Now I’m starting to get the sense most will be virtual/on campus, at least from target schools. Not sure if a COVID concern, but hosting 60-100 candidates coming across the country with key folks at the bank might not be the safest thing.
This year my bank did virtual first rounds then flew out the interview team to the campuses to do superdays at the career centers.
Seems more efficient than hosting 60-100 candidates, but damn did I like the reception the night before followed by superday. Really got to know the culture much better on both ends. And also was fun as a Junior/Senior (when I recruited) being flown out to a city for an event.
usually on a plane, but I heard Goldman catapults you (and gives you an amex)
Are banks not doing virtual super days anymore?
This was my question as well.
They usually connect you to their travel agent and they book for you. Usually they fly you out the day before the interview, you stay in a hotel as well. Any other expenses like Uber and food can be expensed after you’re done and they just reimburse you. For BofA, they gave us like 200$ visa gift cards. MS just made you file a report with receipts to get your money back. And yes, you obvs skip class and stuff for this.
They typically do it by either booking everything for you through their travel agent (after they collect your information, etc.) or the just have you do it and reimburse you for everything by submitting receipts. It is most likely that they will book your flights and hotel, then you will submit other expenses (meals, etc.) for reimbursement.
