How do I break into IBD?

So basically I am doing risk at BB this year. I go to non-target and my GPA is not Hogwartz level: 3.4-3.5. Though I do have strong extracurriculars (maybe that’s why I got the risk offer?). I have a couple of people willing to refer me at BBs and one EB. My technical knowledge is on point. Took FMVA to solidify it as well. Now, I am prepping for the recruiting season for my junior year internship. What do you guys think? Will I get a chance for an interview? Especially at the firms that I have referrals in (referrals are analysts/associates)? Really anxious that my non-target with mediocre GPA will grant me -1 interviews.

Your best chance is to lateral within your BB. Give yourself 1-2 years and make sure your rep is stellar within the bank, also start to network with HR early so you'll be one of the first they notify whenever a new opening comes up

You have to clarify by what you mean by referrals. If you mean you know a junior who can forward your resume to HR, then it genuinely isn't that strong if its at those BB/EBs you mentioned. If it's from someone who's more senior like a VP above, your chances are significantly stronger
